About Us
Welcome to Gandhi Centenary Memorial Convent School, Nowgong, a distinguished educational institution nurtured by the Satna Diocesan Society—a Catholic Minority Community in collaboration with the Congregation of Sisters of Nazareth. Our school, GCM Convent School, is proudly owned by the Catholic Church, Satna, recognized as a Religious Minority Community. It is operated by the Satna Diocesan Society, registered under the M. P. Society Registration Act 1964 (Reg. No. 3276) since March 28, 1973, upholding the minority rights granted by the Constitution of India (Art. No. 30).
Bishop Abraham D. Mattam was the visionary leader behind the establishment of this school. With a clear vision and dedication, Bishop Mattam played a key role in bringing this educational institution to fruition. In the year 1973, the foundation stone of the school was laid. His commitment to building this institution reflects a broader vision for providing quality education and contributing to the community's development. He christened this school in honor of the Father of our Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, and it is built upon a foundational value system centered around Love, Service, and Truth.
For the past five decades, GCM Convent School has been a beacon of standard and value-based education, catering to the educational needs of the people in and around Nowgong. Our journey has been enriched by the tireless contributions of both teaching and non-teaching staff, as well as all who are associated with us; they have played pivotal roles in shaping the academic and moral foundation of countless students. The unwavering support of our beloved children and their parents has been the cornerstone of our success. Together, we have fostered a nurturing environment that values both education and character development. As we look back on our journey and ahead to the future, we're thankful to everyone who has been part of this amazing experience. With ongoing support from the Satna Diocese, the Congregation of Sisters of Nazareth, our wonderful staff, and the continued love of our students and their parents, we're excited about the next 50 years of success and service. Thank you for being part of the GCM Convent School family!
